aurélie bidermann inspired diy braided bracelet

Como el otro día os enseñé por Instagram, mi última aventura en el diy es una pulsera inspirada en las que hace Aurélie Bidermann, gracias a un tutorial que encontré en el blog Honestly... WTF.

As I showed you the other day in Instagram, my last diy is a bracelet inspired in the ones by Aurélie Bidermann, thanks to a tutorial I found at Honestly... WTF blog.

Lo que necesitamos es una cadena o pulsera de eslabones dorados, hilo de colores, imperdibles (uno para el cierre, dos para trabajar), tijeras, horquillas, pintauñas de color y transparente; opcionalmente le podemos colgar charms de colores, y para eso necesitaremos alicate para bisutería, charms y bastones para sujetarlos.

We need a chain or a bracelet with gold links, coloured thread, safety pins (one for the clasp, two for working), scissors, bobby pins, colour and transparent nail varnish; as an option, you can add charms and for that you'll need pliers, charms and batons to fixed to the bracelet.

Lo primero es cortar dos grupos de hilos para trenzar. Cada grupo necesita 15 hilos de 4 veces la longitud de la pulsera o cadena que vamos a utilizar.

First we have to cut the thread to braid, we need two groups of 15 each four times the length of the chain.

Anudamos los dos grupos de hilos y los fijamos a una superficie donde trabajar junto a la cadena, yo lo hago en un cojín y sujeto firmemente la cadena por arriba y por abajo para que sea más fácil. Luego dividimos los dos conjuntos de hilos y los sujetamos con horquillas para que podamos trenzarlos.

We tie both groups and fixed them with the chain to surface in which we can work, I use a pillow and fix the chain for both sides so it's easier. We split both groups of thread and use a bobby pin to keep them togheter and to help us with the braiding.

Cogemos el primer grupo (en este caso el azul) y lo pasamos desde abajo por el primer eslabón. Luego cruzamos el segundo grupo (el rojo) por encima y lo introducimos por el primer eslabón igual que el primero. ¡Y ya está! Ahora solo hay que repetir por todos los eslabones.

We pick the first group (blue in my case) and we put it through the link from behind. Then we cross the second group (the red one) in front of the blue and also put it through the link  from behind. And that's it! Now you just have to repeat in each link.

Poco a poco vemos que aparece la trenza...

After a little the braid begins to show...

Cuando llegemos al final, hacemos un nudo como hemos hecho al comienzo.

When we get to the end, we tie it as we did with the beggining of the bracelet.

Para que no se despeluchen los hilos, les damos un poquito de esmalte de uñas transparente. Si no queremos ponerle abalorios ¡tachán!, hemos terminado la pulsera. Para el cierre podéis comprar uno sencillo, pero yo lo que he hecho para darle un toque más original es pintar un imperdible sencillo con un esmalte de uñas de un color que combine con los hilos, podéis verlo más abajo.

So the thread doesn't gets messy, we put a little clear varnish  at the end. If we don't want to add any charm, tada! We're done. For the clasp you can buy a regular one or paint a regular safety pin with a coloured nail varnish that combines with the threads, as I did. You can see it below.

Si queremos ponerle abalorios, contamos los necesarios y los añadimos en las parte de los eslabones que no tienen hilo.

If you want to add charms, we count how many we need and add them in the links were there's no thread.

Ponemos el cierre con el imperdible, y ahora sí, ¡está terminado!

We put the safety pin... and it's done!
